Bentonite Clays are impure absorbent clays consisting mainly of Montmorillonite (which is a soft silicate mineral) with a dominant element attached; in this case ‘Calcium’. Most bentonite clays are produced during the water erosion of volcanic ash sediments produced following volcanic eruptions. Calcium Bentonite is the active compound in Fullers Earth Powder and in the UK Fullers Earth Powder is Calcium Bentonite.
Calcium Bentonite occurs as a light brown clay fine powder at room temperature; it has excellent absorbent properties and is capable of absorbing most forms of liquid (including oils). It has praised for its skin reviving properties for many years due to its mineral content and antiseptic properties. Bentonite Clays also help to replace lost moisture and remove excess oil from the skin; they improve blood flow which encourages rejuvenation and leave skin feeling smooth and soft. Its high mineral content help remove toxins from the skin leaving clean, smooth, soft, detoxified, repaired and rejuvenated skin.
Face Mask Take 3-4 tea spoons and mix well with a little water (or rose water). Add just enough water to make a smooth paste. Apply the paste to the skin (avoiding the eye area) and leave to dry for approximately 15-20 mins, then wash off with warm water. You can a few drops of Tee Tree Oil to the paste during mixing to increase the antiseptic properties to help remove spots.
Nappy Rash Mix the paste described above using plain water and apply the paste the rash area. Leave for a 5-10 mins and wash off.
Bath Soak Just add 5-6 table spoons to a running bath, allow the clay to dissipate and enjoy.
